Underscoring the theme “Innovate for a SmartFuture”, InnoCarnival 2018 features various types of activities, including exhibitions, workshops, seminars or talks, science competitions, guided tours, stage performances and interactive games for the public to gain hands-on and fun-filled experience of the fun and convenience brought by innovation and technology to their daily life.
All activities of InnoCarnival 2018 are free of charge. Pre-registration is required for some activities.
Highlights of InnoCarnival
Over 300 InnoTech Workshops covering a wide range of topics will be offered for kids, teenagers and families, the workshops can also enhance students’ knowledge of science, technology and creativity. A series of thematic family workshops will be offered to let families learn basic science knowledge joyfully.
Over 70 programme partners, including local universities, R&D centres, professional bodies, government departments, technology enterprises and youth education organisations, will showcase their innovations and research achievements, featuring robotics, green and technological innovations from the International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva, letting the public experience technology achievement and cutting-edge innovations which are “made in Hong Kong”.
Different thematic workshops will be available for kids and families to learn basic science disciplines under a relaxing atmosphere.
InnoTalks and Seminars
Over 40 InnoTalks and seminars will be given by distinguished scholars and industry professionals to enlighten the public on the latest developments in I&T.
Members of the public can sign up for around 300 guided tours including Green 18, Green Trail, Robo Workshop and Innovation on Board Tour, to visit the facilities in the Science Park so as to gain a better understanding of the local development of innovation and technology.
Science Competitions and Prize Presentation Ceremonies
Various programme partners organise innovation and technology science competitions and prize presentation ceremonies during the Carnival to enable the public to witness the talent of the young people in Hong Kong.
With adoption of new trend and applications of new technologies, a series of exhilarating interactive games will be installed in the Carnival to test how swift and responsive the participants could be.
Scheduled in the afternoons of 4 November (Sunday) and 10 November (Saturday), the InnoFiesta features a variety of stage performances for the whole family to enjoy.
The InnoThon 10KM entails individual, group and family categories. It aims to promote healthy lifestyle to the industry practitioners and general public, as well as encourage the public to better understand how we can apply innovation and technology to our daily life.
McMug as I&T Ambassador
Popular cartoon icon McMug continues to be the I&T ambassador for the event this year. Visitors can also collect stamps chops to redeem event mementos, including a series of limited-edition McMug souvenir items.
